ACU Music Department to travel in Italy
For Immediate Release
Oct. 12, 1999
Abilene Christian University's Music Department plans to
tour Italy in March 2000.
Dr. Marion Cawood's foreign language diction classes are
learning Italian and wanted to go to Italy - Cawood made
that happen.
On March 9-20, students from ACU's Music Department will
travel to cities all over Italy, including Milan, Verona,
Venice, Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Sienna, Rome, Naples,
Caserta, Pompeii and Sorrento.
"This is a motivational trip in the world of language,"
Cawood said. "These students will hear Italian around them
all day long."
The twelve-day trip costs $1,611 and includes visits to
the La Scala Opera House, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a
Renaissance art and history lecture, St. Francis of Assisi
Basilica, Vatican City and more.
"Some of these students want to be classical music
performers, and they have to have a good working knowledge
of Italian, French, and German in their profession," Cawood
said. "This trip is a price the students can afford, and it
will give them a learning spurt to be in Italy twelve
days."
Currently 20 people have signed up. Costs will be reduced
if there are 40 people. For more information contact Cawood
at (915) 674-2196.
