TASPA awards scholarship to ACU student

Beverly McAnally, senior non-traditional applied studies
major from Abilene, was awarded one of the Texas Association
of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) scholarships of
$2,000, according to Dr. Jerry Whitworth, chair of the
department of education and associate professor of
education.
McAnally was selected because of her dedication as a
student and as a future teacher.
"Beverly has a passion for teaching," Whitworth said.
"She is a very conscientious student with a passion for
teaching. Her professors report she will make an excellent
teacher."
Each year TASPA provides three $2,000 scholarships to
students at member schools which include all major
universities in Texas offering undergraduate education
degrees. There are 22 university members including Texas
A&M, University of Texas - Austin, University of Texas -
Arlington, Baylor, Texas Tech and Angelo State.
Beverly is preparing to certify as an elementary teacher
with a reading specialization. She will graduate in the
spring of 2000.
