For immediate release
August 12, 1999
Chris Courtright, a 1984 Abilene Christian University
graduate, now serves as Information Technology applications
manager for USAA, one of America1s largest insurance
companies. He was quoted in an article titled "Productive
Printing" in the July 5, 1999 edition of InformationWeek, a
magazine designed specifically for business and technology
managers.
In "Productive Printing" several companies such as
Reynolds Metals Co. and Owens Corning, discuss steps they
are taking to cut back on printing costs. Options such as
more efficient printers and printing applications were
discussed.
Courtright explained that USAA is taking advantage of the
Internet in order to reduce printing costs, be more
efficient and be more flexible. Documents can be on the Web,
sent in email format or faxed, all of which save on postage
costs as well as printing expenses.
John Curtis, service manager for consulting services at
Hewlett-Packard, commends USAA on this step saying that
keeping information in digital form saves time and
money.
