ACU to begin alumni email newsletters
For immediate release
July 6, 1999
Mark Meador, director of alumni relations, plans to keep
in touch with the 80,204 Abilene Christian University alumni
via email.
The Alumni office is creating an email newsletter to help
keep the alumni informed about university activities and
accomplishments.
"We want to increase communication between the alumni
office and all alumni," Meador said.
Currently, publications such as ACU Today, an alumni
magazine, are the only form of mass communication to alumni,
so email will increase the speed of information sharing.
Initially, Meador said, the email newsletter -- which
will be called "Alumnotes" -- will be emailed once a month,
but frequency can increase as needed.
It will feature information about ACU alumni events in
different communities across the United States. It also will
share current information about ACU to keep alumni informed
about their alma mater.
"Email will allow us to quickly put out a call for
volunteers or get people involved in activities that might
say 'ACU people are making a difference,'" Meador said.
Distribution of "Alumnotes" should start in the fall.
Before that, though, Meador said the alumni office is
attempting to create a comprehensive list of alumni email
addresses.
To receive Alumnotes, send an email to majordomo@acu.edu
and write "Subscribe Alumnotes" in the message body.
