ACU names director of human resources
For immediate release
June 3, 1999
Suzanne Allmon, a '79 graduate of ACU, has been named
director of human resources.
Allmon worked at ACU from 1980-86 as administrative
assistant to Dr. Gary McCaleb, vice president of ACU;
director of research for the development office; and
coordinator of student recruiting.
Since that time, Allmon has worked as manager at Baylor
University Medical Center Foundation, an administrator of
retirement living at Asbury Methodist Village in Maryland
and as vice-president of human resources for Sears Methodist
Retirement System in Abilene.
Allmon said she returned to ACU because "it was a great
opportunity" and she "wanted to get back to ACU."
Phil Schubert, director of financial operations and
Allmon's superviseor, said Allmon is a tremendous asset
because she brings experience and good resources through her
position of president of the local Society of Human Resource
Management.
The human resource department is a service component of
ACU designed to attain quality employees for the university
and then to provide support for them while they are
employed.
In order to perform this second aspect better, Allmon
will be conducting campus assessments in all areas of ACU.
She will analyze the data to see what is and what is not
working, then build strategies to improve the ACU work
environment.
Allmon is excited about her new position and feels much
progress has already been made.
"I enjoy working with the faculty and staff, and I look
forward to the future," Allmon said.
