ACU alumnus celebrates birthday For immediate release May 26, 1999 James Burton Coffman of Houston celebrated his 94th birthday Monday. He is a 1927 graduate of Abilene Christian University. Coffman is well known for his 37 volume commentary on the Bible, "The Believer's Commentary" from ACU Press. This faith building collection asks "What does the Bible teach?" Coffman also was honored as Christian Writer of the Year by The Christian Chronicle in 1996.
