Women for ACU to conduct annual fund-raising garage/plant sale March 26-27; announces scholarship recipients

The Women for ACU are planning their annual garage and plant sale for Friday, March 26, and Saturday, March 27, at the Abilene Garden Club, 300 Westwood, to raise money for student scholarships at Abilene Christian University.

The pre-sale will start Friday, March 26, at 5 p.m. with a $1 admission fee. It will continue until 8 p.m. Then, on Saturday the 27th, the sale (with no admission fee) will open at 8 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m.

Co-chairs for the fund-raising event are Mary Manly and June Estes.

Money raised at the sale will benefit WACU's scholarship fund. 1998-99 scholarship recipients were recently announced. They include:

Alexis Byers, human resource management major, Abilene
Jamie Flud, biology major, Tuscola
Rebecca Lyn Walton, English major, Clyde
Janet Chowning, vocational home economics education major, Wichita, Kan.
Jana Gay Elkins, communications disorders major, Pecos

The recipients of the WACU Biblical Studies Scholarships are:

Blake Berryhill, youth and family ministry major, Bartlesville, Okla.
Drew Gaylor, bible and journalism major, Chatsworth, Ga.
Andrew Deister, youth and family ministry major, Grand Junction, Colo.
Sean Morris, biblical text major, Pleasonton
Steven Gaines, missions major, Imperial

WACU is an organization of women interested in Christian education. They raise money through a variety projects to benefit scholarships and campus improvements at ACU, while building unity and friendships. Membership is not limited to alumna of ACU but is open to any woman wishing to support and encourage ACU.
