Abilene Christian University alumnus Matt Stump was recently awarded the Rex Nutt Outstanding Physical Therapy Student Award.

The faculty of the physical therapy department at Hardin-Simmons University nominated Stump, who is currently completing his master's degree there.

The faculty of every Texas university with a graduate physical therapy program is invited to nominate one student a year to receive this award.

"I was in shock," Stump said. "I am not sure if I deserved the award."

Nutt, the person whom the award was named after in 2000 and an ACU alumnus, participates on the board that selects the recipient of his award. The nominees are reviewed by the board anonymously, so Nutt said he was glad to discover that the board had selected Stump as the award recipient.

"All of the ACU students that come through the program are well prepared; they come out of a strong biology department," Nutt said. "And Matt is an exemplary representative of this group."
