ACU Homecoming golf tournament to offer chance at big prizes
For immediate release
Oct. 15, 2001
Abilene Christian University's annual Homecoming Golf Classic at Diamondback Golf Club on Friday will offer golfers more than just a chance to improve their score. They could improve their mode of transportation.
This year, along with the usual assortment of cash and gift certificate prizes, the Homecoming Golf Classic will offer golfers a chance to win a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer or a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle, donated courtesy of Lincoln-Mercury and Kent's Harley-Davidson of Abilene, respectively.
The format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start. Boxed lunches will be provided, and refreshments will be served throughout the course.
Although the tournament is not a fund-raiser, there will be a benefit hole on the course where players have an opportunity to donate money to Habitat for Humanity. The benefit hole costs $10 and those who hit the ball from the tee box onto the green will receive a prize.
The tournament is open to all ACU alumni, students, faculty and friends; registration costs are $85. Sign-ups are allowed up until the day of the classic. Those interested can sign up at www.acu.edu/alumni/golfclassic.html or contact Kristi Pawlik at 915-674-4830.
