ACU raises $5500 to send to New York in Chapel collection

For immediate release
Sept. 18, 2001

Abilene Christian University raised approximately $5500 during a collection in daily Chapel on Tuesday.

Don Jackson, professor emeritus of economics and former deputy director of the National Security Agency, addressed the student body in Chapel on Tuesday, and a collection was taken for the victims of the recent national tragedy.

All money collected on Tuesday will be sent to the Manhattan Church of Christ.

In addition, blood drives will be conducted on campus on Oct. 1, Nov. 28, Jan. 29 and April 2.

Because Abilene is not in a direct line to New York, the blood will be sent to other Texas cities. While some of the blood may be sent to New York through those cities, some may also be used to help replenish the supply of blood in the Texas cities that have sent blood to New York.
