ACU to aid NY firefighters through collection at football game

Abilene Christian University will be collecting needed items to aid firefighters and rescue workers in New York City at Saturday's football game at Shotwell Stadium at 6 p.m.

Firefighters from the Abilene Fire Department will be at the game to assist with the collection.

Items being collected include socks, work gloves, bottled water, and cash. Everything collected will then be sent to the New York Fire Department.

In addition, the Abilene Fire Department will have on hand one of the fire engines and a Safe House, a fire education program for children.

The fire fighters, engine and Safe House will arrive at 4:30, just in time for the pre-game fajita cookout and inflatable attractions for kids.
