ABILENE - Phil Schubert, CPA, has been named vice president for finance for Abilene Christian University. He has been serving ACU for six years, most recently as chief financial officer.

As vice president, Schubert will be responsible for all financial aspects of the university, including financial management, record keeping and ensuring financial stability and security for ACU.

Schubert said he is committed to helping educate more students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world through his efforts in financial management.

Dr. Royce Money, ACU president, said, "Phil has proven himself an invaluable asset for ACU. As CFO, he has been performing many duties that a vice president would normally perform, so I am pleased to say Phil's title now more accurately matches his responsibilities."

Schubert said, "Our task is to keep an ACU education affordable for as many students as possible while attracting and retaining excellent faculty and staff and maintaining an environment that is distinctively Christian."

As a 1991 graduate of ACU, Schubert offers ACU vibrant qualities.

"He is bright, has good analytical skills, good communication skills, good technical skills and the ability to understand both the big picture and the related details," Money said. "He is an exceptional leader."

Before joining the ACU team in 1993, Schubert worked as an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas. He currently is a board member of Information Associates of Texas, and a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs and the National Association of College and University Business Officers.

"I'm sold on the value of the ACU experience, and I am proud to help offer that experience to others," Schubert said.

He and his wife, Jamie, have one daughter, Sydnie, and one son, Mason.
