Jazz great Ronald Wilkins to perform Thursday with ACU jazz ensemble

Noted jazz musician Ronald Wilkins will perform on campus tomorrow with the ACU jazz ensemble, directed by Eric Wilson. They will perform in Cullen Auditorium free of charge at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, and the concert is open to the public.

Wilkins, a San Antonio native, has performed with numerous symphonies and orchestras, taught band in high school, and performed with Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, Lena Horne, Dizzy Gillespie, the Temptations and other well known entertainers. He attended North Texas State University and University of Texas at San Antonio.

His Broadway show credits include "Fiddler on the Roof," "West Side Story," "Showboat," and "Ragtime."

Currently, Wilkins teaches jazz improvisation and performs as a freelance artist in San Antonio. He recently released his first CD, "Ron Wilkins: A Tribute to the Masters."
