An Abilene Christian University board member recently helped found a private equity fund.

J. McDonald Williams, class of '63 and an ACU board member, was a key investor in North Texas Opportunity Fund.

The North Texas Opportunity Fund targets the gap in private equity funding for companies in underserved areas of North Texas and middle market minority- and women-owned companies.

Williams is currently the chairman of Trammell Crow Company, a commercial real estate services and investment firm.

Williams helped lead some of Dallas' major corporate entities, including Bank One, Chase Bank, TXU and Texas Instruments, to invest in the fund.

Since January, NTOF's founders have raised approximately $25 million.

The fund's first two investments are InStaff Personnel, a Plano-based company that will relocate to southern Dallas, and a division of Ameriserve Food Distribution, Inc.
