
Shakespeare Festival prepares for its final weekend
For Immediate Release June 28, 2000 Contact: Tom Craig, Director of Media and Community Relations After playing to nightly crowds of 300 to 400 people last week, the Abilene Shakespeare Festival is entering its second and final weekend run this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Abilene Christian University. This open air Shakespeare theatre festival is free and open to the public in ACU's Beauchamp Amphitheatre with shows starting at 8:45 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs and picnic blankets for an evening under the stars with classic and not-so-classic Shakespeare. ACU Theatre will present a new comedy rendition of "Two Gentleman from Verona" Thursday and Saturday, and the dramatic "Macbeth" on Friday. All shows start at 8:45 p.m. in ACU's Beauchamp Amphitheatre, located at the base of ACU's Tower of Light. Admission to the Abilene Shakespeare Festival is FREE thanks to generous grants from the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council and the Ann Bradshaw Stokes Foundation.
