Dr. Gustavo Tolosa, Abilene Christian University assistant professor of music, presented a interdisciplinary performance at the University of Wisconsin Saturday, June 24.
He performed Ginastera's "Twelve American Preludes" at the invitation of the Macro Analysis Creative Research Organization.
The purpose of MACRO is to eliminate the divisions between music theory, performance and all other aspects of music. Tolosa was asked to perform because of the innovative nature of his performance and his interest to integrate disciplines like music and art of poetry.
Tolosa is integrating music and art in this performance by making connections between the elements of music and images.
"I become a better musician and a better teacher each time I collaborate with a colleague because I am able to help my audience make those crucial connections that result in learning," Tolosa said.
Tolosa has collaborated with Albert Haley, assistant professor of English, to combine music and poetry, and with Robert Green, associate professor of art, and Joshua Hinson, junior art major from Abilene, to combine music and painting.
