Two Abilene Christian University students were selected as the 2000-2001 editors of the on-campus student publications.

Jessica Smith, sophomore journalism major from Tyler, was selected as the editor of the Optimist, the student newspaper. Ashley Kilburn, sophomore journalism major from Dallas, was selected as the editor of the Prickly Pear, the student yearbook.

The decision was made by a panel of faculty members and administrators, including Dr. Merlin Mann, advisor for the Optimist and associate professor of journalism and mass communication, Dr. Cheryl Bacon, chair of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department, and Dr. Royce Money, university president.
