John Best announced as new program director

Abilene Christian University has selected a new director of operations for KACU-FM.
John Best, adjunct instructor for the Journalism and Mass Communication department, will be taking the place of Gary Vaughn who is leaving for an opportunity with Conseco Financial Services in Lubbock.
Best has a degree in classical music, a bachelor of music in music theory and composition with a principal in cello from Hardin-Simmons University. He is finishing this semester, a master's degree in digital media from ACU.
Best has worked for the Abilene Reporter-News and the Corpus Christi Caller-Times as a photojournalist. During these years he served on the national board of directors of the National Press Photographers Association.
He also began Best Photos, a commercial and advertising photography business, which has produced award-winning advertising for local and regional clients for many years.
In addition to still photography, he has been involved in television production for commercials and industrial videos. He produces the television spots for First Baptist Church with Phil Christopher and has recieved numerous Addy awards. He also produces voice over work for commercial clients.
Presently, Best is teaching photography and video as an adjunct instructor at ACU.
He has served on the Abilene Opera Association board, the Abilene Ad Club board, is on the Hardin-Simmons School of Music Foundation board, is currently president of the West Texas Handbell association and is the new co-chair of the West Texas Media Ministers Conference, which he helped found.
