KACU to feature William Doppmann Friday as prelude to
live performance Feb. 3

Public radio station 89.7 KACU will feature the talents
of world famous pianist William Doppmann this Friday from 9
to 10 p.m. Doppmann, who has been described as a "pianist
giant," is considered by many to be one of the greatest
artists of this age.
This radio feature is a prelude to Doppmann's live
performance at ACU Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in Cullen Auditorium on
the ACU campus. This live concert is open to the public
free of charge.
Friday night's radio feature on KACU will showcase songs
from Doppmann's CD Four American Piano Sonatas, including
MacDowell's Sonata No. 2 in G minor Op. 50; Griffes' Sonata;
Finney's Sonata No. 4 in E major; and Barber's Sonata Op.
26.
KACU is 89.7 on the FM dial.
At Doppmann's live performance Feb. 3, he will perform
works by Sweelinck, Mozart, Copland and Chopin.
Dr. Paul Piersall, chairman of ACU's Music Department,
said Doppmann's performance in Abilene is a rare opportunity
not to be missed.
