Apple Computer recognizes ACU Campus Store in Best Store
Contest
For Immediate Release
Jan. 20, 2000
The Abilene Christian University Campus Store was
recognized by Apple Computer as one of the top six college
bookstores out of 365 that retail Apple computers.
Once a year Apple sends out secret shoppers to evaluate
these stores in two categories, merchandise presentation and
product questions. Merchandising presentation includes
current product displays as well an effective merchandising
scheme. The product questions are used to determine the
knowledge level of the sales staff.
ACU scored third place in tier two with a score of 89.
The national average was 82. "This means we have one of the
most elite computer stores in the nation," said Anthony
Williams, manager of ACU's Campus Store. "We have high
standards at ACU, and this is significant because it's
consistent with our efforts at being the best."
The winners in this competition received a trip to Mac
World in San Francisco, $3500 worth of Apple computers and a
store party. Chris Martin, student worker who manages the
computer department of the Campus Store, and his assistant,
David Wilson, represented ACU at an awards dinner at Mac
World on Jan. 4.
