MPulse 2009

The MPulse experience is an unforgettable, community-building week for middle school students. MPulse addresses the growing need for a bridge into the faith community for middle schoolers. Working in peer groups led by adult volunteers and camp staff, MPulse campers ask and answer questions using the Word of God, practice spiritual disciplines to deepen their faith, relax and bond through team-building games, and worship together in a variety of settings.

As many of the entering ninth grade students prepare to enter the new terrain of high school, we hope to help them learn about the enormous world of which they are a part. Special afternoon activities are planned in the community for the ninth graders. We hope that these experiences will challenge and encourage them to think beyond the normal confines of everyday life and to see the world around them through God’s eyes.

In this active learning environment campers are encouraged to live in community with other Christian believers and work together to make a difference in the world around them.

Daily Schedule at MPulse
TAG
To start the day off right, we meet in our hall groups to spend time along with God. Counselors lead this time of quiet prayer and devotion.

Everfit
This is a time for campers to connect with their hall groups and their counselors by integrating physical, spiritual and mental wellness in an hour of fun exercise activities around the campus. In honoring our bodies through the disciplines of exercise, we hope to more fully commit ourselves to God and to enjoy the gift of community.

Focus Video
This is a time for campers to see short video clips that highlight the themes for the day.

Community Building Activities
Campers are given the opportunity to grow in relationship with the other campers in their groups through small group games and activities.

Group Activities and Instruction

Campers are divided into groups of about 20 where they discuss and learn about the week’s theme led by volunteer teaching staff and counselors.

LAF Games
Each day campers are given the opportunity to further develop daily themes by enjoying exciting games that encourage community and reinforce the curriculum.

Leadership Challenge

The leadership challenge provides students an opportunity to explore their own leadership skills and to understand new ways of loving others in the name of Jesus.

Spiritual Disciplines
Each day campers choose a spiritual discipline to focus on for that day. Spiritual disciplines include prayer, praise, fasting, communion, hospitality, meditation and others.

Counselor Devo
Every night campers meet with their hall counselor and the other boys or girls on their hall for one final devo and prayer time for the day before they go to bed to get plenty of rest for the next day’s exciting activities.
