1. How will my camper know what to bring to camp?
Our web site will provide
you with all the necessary information the camper will
need before arriving at camp. After registrations have
started in the Fall of each year, we'll add a section
labeled "What To Know Before
You Show" with a packing list, camp policies and
parent information sheet.
2. Who will my camper room with?
Campers are housed in university residence halls, with two campers per room. If desired, campers may request a specific roommate on their camp application. This request does not guarantee the requested roommate a space in camp. The request will be honored if both campers request each other. If no request is made, roommates will be assigned for the week during check-in.
3. Can my camper be in the same group with...?
Campers spend some of their day in assigned groups for a variety of learning experiences. Due to the large number of campers at each session, we cannot honor individual requests for group assignments. Every effort is made to provide for exciting and stimulating "assigned group experiences to encourage interaction and fellowship, while also ensuring other times during each day for campers to self-select groups.
4. What if my camper gets sick?
Licensed health-care professionals are on duty daily serving the camps in case of illness and nearby Hendrick Health Systems medical center is used for emergencies. Any camper who is diagnosed with a contagious or communicable illness while at camp must be withdrawn from camp immediately for the safety of all campers.
5. What if my camper must take medication?
Campers must provide a detailed and signed medical form when they apply for camp. Campers requiring medication must provide written instructions to the camp staff at check-in. Required medicines will be dispensed by a First Aid Certified staff member or licensed health professional, according to the provided schedule.
No camper is allowed to self-medicate prescribed substances.
6. What if my camper must cancel his/her reservation for camp? Will I receive a refund?
Our cancellation policy requires all campers to pay a non-refundable $75 deposit upon registration. You will receive a refund for any additional fees paid. If your camper does not attend and you do not notify the camp office within 24 hours of his/her session, you will forfeit the entire amount paid
7. What is the time and location of check in?
On the Sunday of each camp session, campers
may check in at their assigned residence halls between
3-5 p.m. Additional information will be available by
clicking on the link below labeled "What To Know Before You Show" regarding the specific
assigned locations. No supervision is provided for early arrivals; please
plan for each camper to arrive during the check-in times only.
8. When and where can I pick up my camper?
At the end of each camp, campers can be picked up at their residence halls at the time noted in the pre-camp information. No supervision is provided for late pick-ups; please plan for each camper to be picked up at the appropriate time.
*Kadesh campers are released Saturday mornings between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
*Learning to Lead and MPulse sessions end on Friday morning. Campers are released by 11:00 a.m.
*KidQuest Day Campers will be in the Living Room of the McGlothlin Campus Center at 4:30 p.m. each afternoon.
9. Will my camper be able to call home?
Campers have daily access to phones in the ACU Campus Center during meal times and free time and are encouraged to make any necessary calls during these times only. No phone calls are permitted after the campers return to their rooms at night.
The Camp Office will relay emergency messages during large group meetings. Parents are asked to remember that the staff is very busy supervising campers and ensuring their safety, so calls should only be made in the case of an emergency.
We are aware that many campers regularly carry cell phones, but we ask that campers leaver all cell phones in the residence halls during the camp week. Campers allowed to make calls from their personal phones during free time and in residence halls only. Any camper that is seen using a cell phone outside of the residence halls without the permission from the camp director will have the phone taken up and returned at the end of the week.
10. Can I visit my camper while at camp?
Parents are invited to attend closing ceremonies of each camp session, which includes the viewing of a slide presentation of the weeks activities. Information concerning the date and time of this event is provided in the pre-camp packet.
Visitation during the week of camp is strongly discouraged, as it tends to distract from the camp experience.
11. Does this camp qualify for the childcare tax credit?
KidQuest Day Camp does qualify, but our overnight camps do not qualify for the tax credit.
