Active Learning Faculty Workshop

All-day workshop conducted by Dr. Mel Silberman in Hart Auditorium
Wednesday, February 28, 2001 (8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.)

This all-day workshop for faculty teaches active learning strategies applicable to all class formats:

- large and small
- undergraduate and graduate
- groups, pairs, and whole-class learning activities

Dr. Mel Silberman is an internationally recognized author, consultant, and pioneer in active learning. Interesting facts about Mel:

- Professor of Adult and Organizational Development at Temple University
- President of Active Training, Princeton, New Jersey
- Over 25 years of experience with active training and active learning
- PhD in educational psychology from the University of Chicago

Suggestions for covering classes:

- Video tape a lecture or instructions for your class.
- Assign research to be conducted in the library or on the Internet.
- Schedule a service project with learning objectives that support course goals.
- Work with teaching assistants / peer leaders on a class plan they can lead.
