General Questions

Where can I find hotel information? Visit the Abilene Visitors' Bureau website for information on local hotels.

Are meals provided? Meals are not provided as part of the Family Weekend packages. The only meal provided with the Family Weekend package is the tailgate before the Saturday evening football game. We invite you to join us for lunch after chapel for Food Truck Friday, where local food trucks will be set up for you to buy lunch. The Campus Center food court will be open, as well as the World Famous Bean. As part of the Family Weekend package, special discounts will be available at local eateries and hangouts with Family Weekend name badges (a list of participating locations can be found in your Family Weekend packet). Do I need to check-in for Family Weekend? Yes! Come find us at the Student Life Den in the lower level of the McGlothlin Campus Center on Friday from 10 A.M. – 7:30 P.M. and Saturday from 9 A.M. – Noon. At check-in, you will receive your Family Weekend packet, which includes your event tickets, schedules, maps and more. Stop by, grab some cool Wildcat gear (while supplies last), and get your weekend started the right way! 

Freshman Follies 
Can I buy Freshman Follies tickets at the door? Yes, but space is very limited. In order to ensure your admission to the show, purchase your tickets as part of a Family Weekend package beforehand. 

Can I buy Freshman Follies tickets without buying a Family Weekend package? Yes. You can purchase individual tickets here

Do I need to buy a Freshman Follies ticket for my student? If your student is in the Freshman Follies show, you do not need to buy them a ticket. If not, she/he will need to buy her/his own ticket beforehand at the Student Ticket Counter, located on the lower level of the Campus Center. 

Can I buy tickets for more than one Freshman Follies show? By purchasing a Full Weekend package, you receive a ticket to the Friday show and to your choice of one of the Saturday shows. 

Football Game and Tailgate 
Do I need to buy a football game ticket for my student? No, current students get in free with a valid ACU Student ID card. 

Do I need to buy a tailgate ticket for my student? Yes. At check-out, there will be an option to purchase additional tailgate tickets. 

Band Students
My student is in the ACU Big Purple Marching Band. What is the Band's schedule for Saturday, September 23? 

2 – 2:45 P.M. Percussion rehearsal in Fry Hall 
2:45 – 3:30 P.M. Full Band rehearsal (Stompin’ Grounds behind WPAC) 
5:00 P.M. Full Band in stands for pregame rehearsal 
5:45 P.M. Pregame Performance
6 P.M. Kickoff! 

Is there anything that the Band does on Friday, September 22? On Friday, the band has rehearsal at Shotwell Stadium that begins at 11:15, and goes until 12:30. Parents are welcome to come to Shotwell for that rehearsal. 

Band Director’s Note: 

  • On Saturday, parents are welcome to come to the rehearsals; percussion at 2:00 (if their student is a percussionist), and full band rehearsal on the Stompin’ Grounds at 2:45 P.M.
  • During the game, the Big Purple is stationed in the stands in the northwest corner of the stadium.
  • Band students and parents will have 1 hour available to attend the tailgate from 4 – 5 P.M.
  • Double-check the schedule with your student in the band. Start times can change depending on athletics, if the game is televised, etc. Come and have fun!
