Taking a picture from a mobile device:

  1. Click “Upload Photo” and either choose to use an existing photo on your device or the “take photo” option. If you use the “take photo” option, hold the device sideways (or landscape) when you take the picture. *Some tablets need to be help upright rather than sideways. If your picture is stretched or upside down, try rotating the device and retaking the picture.
  2. Make sure the photo is not too close and is centered on your face. You might need to ask a friend to snap the picture for you.
  3. Upload the picture and crop (it should automatically format to 400x600 for you). Once your picture appears on screen, you can tap and drag with your finger to crop the image.
  4. Make sure to follow the guidelines for all pictures listed above.
  5. Submit a picture of your photo-ID (driver’s license or passport) under the “Upload Identification” section. This only has to be done the first time you submit a photo.

FAQs and Common Problems:

1. My picture is upside down or sideways.

Try orienting your device differently when you snap your picture; generally, the camera part of your device needs to be on your right to work correctly. If that doesn’t work, you can send your picture to your computer (via e-mail, Bluetooth, or direct connection cable) and try the submission again.

2. How do I know if my picture was accepted or rejected?

It will take us 24 hours to review your submitted photo. You can return to the myID site and view the status of your submission at any time.
