Assistant Professor or Instructor of Communication Disorders: The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Abilene Christian University seeks qualified candidates for an instructor or tenure-track faculty position beginning fall 2017.  

A doctoral degree is preferred but strong candidates with the Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology will be considered. Candidates with a Master's degree should have an interest in/desire to pursue a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related area. Applicants must hold a current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and hold (or be eligible for) a current Texas SLP license.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in basic human communication processes such as language and speech development; teaching or facilitating courses for graduate students in the instructor's area(s) of expertise; supervising clinical practicum; serving on departmental, college and university committees. Tenure-track candidates will demonstrate the ability to engage in research and scholarship in areas of expertise.

Instructor and Clinical Coordinator:
 The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor and Clinical Coordinator for Fall 2017 for our location at ACU-Dallas. Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree in speech-language pathology; hold a current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP); hold (or be eligible for) a current Texas SLP license, and have a minimum of four years of professional clinical experience and significant supervisory experience.

Primary responsibilities will be to support the Clinical Coordinator in graduate student practicum including the coordination of external clinical sites, supervision of students enrolled in clinical practicum, and functioning as a facilitator for select graduate courses. The master’s program in speech-language pathology at ACU is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. He/she will provide curricular leadership, develop policies and procedures; oversee programmatic assessment and ensure accreditation compliance; and represent the program at national, state, local and university meetings. The director will teach in his/her area of content expertise, advise, and maintain a scholarly agenda leading to presentations and publications. 

Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree in education, athletic training or a related field; diverse experience as an athletic trainer in multiple settings; evidence of scholarly productivity and professional service; certification by the BOC; and licensure with the state of Texas.

School of Social Work
The School of Social Work at Abilene Christian University invites applications and/or nominations for a tenure-track position in the ACU School of Social Work, with appointment possible in January 2018, or August 2018. Rank is open, depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Depending on experience and background, the position may be designated as primarily to the graduate or undergraduate program; the successful candidate will, however, be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Administrative assignment is possible for experienced candidates.

ACU’s School of Social Work offers both the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and the Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degrees. The graduate program has a single concentration, Advanced Generalist Practice with an Evidence-Based Practice emphasis. Both programs utilize a capstone experience that emphasizes social work research, with the MSSW requiring a thesis.

The successful candidate should hold the Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited or internationally-recognized social work program, and a doctorate in social work or a related field. ABD or MSW with outstanding practice experience (including teaching) may be considered. Experience supervising theses and/or dissertations is highly desirable.
