Department of Language and Literature

Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a position in developmental mathematics beginning in Fall 2017. An earned masters degree (or completion prior to August 2017) in education (preferred) or mathematics is required. The successful candidate is expected to be an effective teacher and mentor to underprepared students in an undergraduate environment and to have a desire to pursue professional development. Applicants are sought with a background of a minimum of five years of experience teaching mathematics at the high school level. The teaching load is typically 12 hours at the developmental level.

College of Biblical Studies

Department of Bible, Missions and Ministry
The Department of Bible, Missions and Ministry invites applications and nominations in writing for a junior-level, tenure-track faculty position, beginning in Fall 2017. The candidate must be able to relate to a multi-ethnic student body whose experience with Christianity ranges from very high to none. The candidate will be expected to teach General Education survey courses in New Testament and/or Old Testament and other courses assigned by the chair; mentor student research; and accept departmental, college and university committee assignments. The area of specialization is open, but the department is especially interested in candidates with expertise in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, Theology/Philosophy, or World Religions including Islam. The candidate should possess a well-defined program of research as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations, demonstrate competence in the integration of theological and spiritual issues with the academic study of religion, hold an earned research doctorate (Ph.D. or Th.D.) in one of the major theological disciplines (A.B.D. may be considered); and exhibit excellence as a classroom teacher. Department of Marriage and Family Therapy
The Department of Marriage and Family Studies invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track marriage and family therapy faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level, beginning Fall 2017.The MFT program at ACU has held continuous COAMFTE accreditation since1983. The candidate will be expected to teach courses relative to the family lifecycle, research, career counseling from a systemic perspective, and other MFT courses; supervise graduate interns; mentor student research; and accept committee assignments. The candidate should possess a well-defined program of research as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations; demonstrate competence in the integration of theological and spiritual issues with therapy; exhibit competence as a classroom teacher; demonstrate eligibility for licensure as an LMFT in the State of Texas; hold Clinical Membership and Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate status with the AAMFT; and must hold the Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy or a closely related mental health discipline. Graduate School of Theology

ACU’s College of Biblical Studies invite applications for positions as Adjunct Faculty for online MDIV, MACM, and MAGS degrees offered by the Graduate School of Theology. Available openings are from one to four possible courses per year. The first courses will begin May 9, 2016.

Adjunct Doctoral Faculty needed for the following areas:
The area of specialization is open (e.g., Biblical Studies, World Religions, Theology, Missions, Christian History, Biblical Languages, etc.). The candidate should hold an earned doctorate in one of the major theological disciplines and should exhibit potential as an excellent online instructor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adapt a current course shell with individualized syllabus, course readings, and course assignments.
  • Give rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and critical.
  • Teach class size of 15-20 students.
  • Place students in groups for assignments/discussions.
  • Moderate weekly online discussions.
  • Answer course-related questions from students.
  • Facilitate and grade all assignments.
  • Enter final grades.
  • Submit faculty course evaluation.
  • Give feedback to program director for course and program improvement.

Requirements

  • Work experience in subject area preferred.
  • Terminal degree in a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Previous online teaching/facilitating experience with demonstrated effectiveness desired.

School of Information Technology and Computing
The School of Information Technology and Computing (SITC) at Abilene Christian University seeks qualified applicants for an instructor or tenure-track faculty position beginning fall 2016.


SITC is a growing academic unit within the College of Business Administration and offers majors in Computer Science, Digital Entertainment Technology, Information Systems, and Information Technology. The undergraduate Computer Science – Computing Theory and Information Technology programs are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. Digital Entertainment Technology (DET) is an interdisciplinary major catering to students interested in game design, film production and animation, and DET was recently ranked #27 in the Princeton Review’s list of the top 50 game design programs in the country.

SITC invites applications from faculty who can contribute to any of the SITC programs, with preference for those who have specific expertise related to digital entertainment and information technology. Faculty responsibilities include engaging with undergraduate students and colleagues in teaching, research, and service. A terminal degree in a field related to the teaching discipline is preferred; a master’s degree combined with significant professional experience in the field and commitment to ongoing professional development is acceptable.
