Association for Computing Machinery 
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is the world’s oldest and largest educational and scientific society for computing professionals. Since 1947, ACM has been dedicated to advancing the art, science, and applications of information technology. Membership currently numbers more than 80,000 worldwide, including students in approximately 500 student chapters.

ACU has been home to a student chapter of ACM for more than three decades. The chapter is largely self-directed, with Dr. John Homer currently serving as sponsor. Some of the ACM events include the annual Valentine’s Day Cupid Project, a fundraising event which consists of a computerized compatibility screening for ACU students, and administering computer systems and networks for ACU programming contests.

Association for Information Systems 
The Association for Information Systems (AIS) is the premier international professional organization for academics specializing in Information Systems. Its mission is to progress knowledge in the use of IT to improve organizational performance and individual quality of work life. AIS seeks to create a vision for the future of the IS field and profession and to create and implement a modern, technologically sophisticated professional society.

Students in the ACU chapter of AIS engage in professional and networking activities with other students and professionals in the field of information systems. The ACU chapter of AIS is sponsored by Dr. Orneita Burton and Dr. Brad Crisp.

Digital Entertainment Technology Club 
The Digital Entertainment Technology (DET) Club welcomes students interested in learning more about video game development, film production, animation, or any other form of digital entertainment or digital media to expand their resources as they enter the film & game industries. FilmFest  
Abilene Christian University's FilmFest is a student film festival designed to give those interested in film production and the motion picture and entertainment industries a creative outlet at ACU and inroads into the industry through alumni and industry professionals that serve as judges for the event. If the film industry is something that interests you, this is a great way to start getting involved even while in college. Computer Programming Contests  
1 computer, 3 programmers, 8 problems, 4 hours, 4 events, and one team to rule them all.

The School of Information Technology and Computing (SITC) hosts a series of computer programming contests every year. Students also participate in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, a worldwide competition.

SITC Research Fellows  
A great way to prepare for graduate school is to start being involved in research during your undergraduate years. Because of the smaller size of our programs and our emphasis on undergraduate education, our students are able to work on research side by side with their professors. This not only allows for students to have a job on campus but also obtain research experience prior to their graduate school years. Springboard Ideas Challenge
If you are interested in starting your own business, or making your software idea a successful business venture, participating in the Springboard Ideas Challenge is a great place to start. Each year, ACU’s Griggs Center for Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy hosts a business plan submission competition in the Spring. Many of our past students, like Chad Hutchins (Computer Science, ‘08), and Asa Kusuma (Computer Science ‘12), have won the competition with their technology-based ventures.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society
The mission of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the computing and information disciplines.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the first and only existing international honor society in the computing and information disciplines. It has received endorsements from the two largest computer organizations in the world, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS). The ACU chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is sponsored by Dr. Alfa Nyandoro.
