Winnie Creel Gibbs served ACU as dean of women from 1974-85.
She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Abilene Christian University in 1953 and later completed a master's degree in counseling and guidance from ACU as well.
Gibbs returned to her alma mater in August of 1974 as assistant dean of students. She was then promoted to associate dean of students in 1975, and she served the university for 11 years before leaving to work as a counselor at Abilene High School in 1985.
During her years at ACU, Gibbs served on the Student Life, Chapel and Admissions committees and the Spiritual Reaffirmation task force.
She married J.B. Gibbs in 1953 and had five children: Bryan, Steven, Jonathan, Julie and Rebekah.
