Dr. Richard S. Lytle received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Harding University in 1980, a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1983, and a Ph.D. in marketing from Arizona State University in 1994.
Lytle began teaching at ACU in 1991 as an assistant professor of marketing. In 1997 he was named an associate dean and in 1999 was appointed dean of the College of Business Administration. As a member of the Faculty Scholars Luncheon Committee, he was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year in management sciences in 1992 and in 1993 he was named as the Trustee's Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
During his time at ACU, Lytle has served on the Provost's Cabinet, Faculty Development Committee, University Budget Committee, Student Achievement Team and the University Strategic Planning Committee. He has also served as the director of the COBA Leadership Institute and was an assistant professor of marketing in the ACU World Class program in Engelberg, Switzerland.
Prior to his employment at ACU, Lytle was a gas marketing representative for AmocoProduction Company, supervisor of finance for Electronic Data Systems, senior analyst for Tenneco Oil E&P and an analyst for Volkswagen of America.
Cocurrently, Lytle is a partner in LJL Consulting, International and the president of The Lytle Group, an Abilene marketing firm.
In 2002, Lytle's doctorate dissertation, a manual he developed to measure a company’s commitment to customer service as perceived by its employees, copyrighted as SERV*OR and distributed by LJL Consulting, was purchased by Audi of America. The manual was purchased the previous summer by Manheim Auto Auction, the largest auto auction company in the nation. During the development of SERV*OR Lytle used McCoy's building suppliers and banks throughout Arizona, Houston and Dallas for testing.
Lytle and his wife, Jeanne, have three daughters: Kelly, Hannah and Michelle.
