Dee Nutt

Dee Nutt received a bachelor's degree in physical education from ACU in 1950 and master's degree in 1964.  He was first team all-America selection for the Wildcats as a senior in 1949-50, and in 1987 he was added to the university's Sports Hall of Fame.  He was all conference three times and MVP of the Texas Conference in 1947-48.

Nutt was head coach for ACU men's basketball for 16 seasons with a record of 208-201.  He coached at ACU from 1955-69 and returned for two seasons in 1988-89 and 1989-90.  Nutt coached ACU to Southland Conference titles in 1965, 1966 and 1968.  ACU advanced to the NCAA Division II regional tournament seven times under Nutt, and the 1965-66 team reached the national quarterfinals.

Nutt resigned as head basketball coach in 1990.  He and his wife, Lila ('50), had three children: Deeanne Litton ('72), Barbara Smith ('75) and Jim ('82).  Lila died in 1991.
