Byron Nelson

Byron Nelson, one of the most famous golfers in sports history, retired from the pro golf tour in 1946, after winning every major golf tournament except the British Open. At his retirement, he had 54 PGA tournament victories.  He was a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, World Golf Hall of Fame and PGA Hall of Fame.

After Nelson's retirement from the pro circuit, he became a member of ACU's Board of Trustees and National Development Council.  The Nelsons helped to establish the Byron and Louise Nelson Golf Endowment Fund at ACU.

Byron is the brother of Dr. Charles Nelson, ACU professor emeritus of music.
