Bill Gilbreth

Bill Gilbreth pitched for the Wildcats as a student-athlete in 1966-69.  While at ACU he was all-Southland Conference with a four-year record of 25-9.  In 1968 he was the NCAA strikeout leader with 134 in 89 innings.  After graduating from ACU, Gilbreth went on to play in the American League for the Detroit Tigers and California Angels. 

In 1991, Gilbreth was named head baseball coach.  The university resumed intercollegiate baseball in 1991 under Gilbreth's direction after an absence of 11 seasons. Gilbreth resigned as head baseball coach in 1995.

ACU honored Gilbreth with the Gilbreth-Scott Teamroom at Crutcher Scott Field in 1996.  Gilbreth and his wife, Phyllis ('69), have two daughters: Melanie Offut ('92) and Tiffanie Heller ('93).
