Dr. B.E. Davis came to ACU in 1969 from Michigan State University where he had just completed his Ph.D. in Communications. Davis earned his BA in Speech and Bible from David Lipscomb University in 1953 and his MS in Economics and Sociology from Clemson University in 1962.
Davis was a professor of communications at ACU and served as director of the mass communication program from 1969 until his retirement in 1989. In addition to his teaching duties he served on the Faculty Senate, Graduate Council and Research Council. Davis was also director of the Center for Research in Religious Communication, director of the annual Mass Communication Evangelism Symposium and member of the Board of Directors of the World Christian Broadcasting Corporation.
He received the "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" award in 1973 and retired in 1989 after 20 years of service to ACU. He was a member of the University Church of Christ and has served as an elder for that congregation. After his retirement Davis operated Money For College, a franchise of a California company, out of his home, and assisted students in finding financial aid.
Davis also has more than 30 years experience as a minister and served multiple congregations in North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan and Texas.
Dr. Davis married the former Frances Dawn Bartlett and they had four children: Kathy ('76), Kay ('79), Phyllis ('87) and Mike ('89).
