A.M. "Tonto" Coleman played baseball, basketball, and football for ACU until his graduation in 1928. In 1938 Coleman returned to ACU as assistant football coach and head track coach. He became head coach of the Wildcats in 1942 where he remained until 1950.
In 1965, Coleman became a member of the ACU Advisory Board. Coleman was inducted into the ACU Sports Hall of Fame in 1986. He and his wife, Ann ('31) had two daughters: Bettye Skelton '’62) and Nancy Blair ('66). Coleman died in 1973.
