Cover of the June 1929 A. C. C. Bulletin

The following is taken from the June 1929 issue of the Abilene Christian College Bulletin, volume 14, number 1 for the 1929-30 school year.

Expenses

Abilene Christian College does not claim to be the cheapest school.  Good equipment; excellent teachers of character, training, experience, and native ability; modern, comfortable homes for students cannot be provided cheaply.
Comparison of the rates listed below with those of the various other colleges of the land will show that expenses here are much less than in many of the institutions of similar rank and position.
This is true in spite of the fact that Abilene Christian College does not have an endowment fund.  Rates will be made still lower just to the degree that conditions make it possible.  The institution is not operated as a commercial organization.  The management does not seek to realize any financial dividends whatsoever.  But it is necessary to make the institution as far as possible pay its own operating expenses.

FEES

In the College each student is required to pay the following fees for each term (quarter) of three months he is in school:

Matriculation.............................................

$ 2.00

2.00

Student Activities .....................................

In the Academy these fees are payable in two terms of $13.50 each.

Blanket Tax for college annual.............

    8.50

This entitles the student to a picture in the annual and also to a copy of the book.  This is much cheaper than the old method of subscription.  Payable once a year.
In the Training School (first seven grades) each student pays a matriculation of $3.00 per year, payable at entrance.

No reduction is made for holidays or examination days either in board or tuition, academy, college or fine arts.  Money is paid by the student for terms, or for years, and not for weeks, months, or lessons.  This is important for each student to remember when he registers and pays his money.
Students will not be admitted to term examinations without a statement from the bursar that all tuition, board, fees, books, bills, etc., for the current term have been settled.
If a student is expelled or withdraws, on his own account, no money will be refunded.  If he is justified in leaving he will be given a due bill for the amount.  If he is forced to leave because of sickness, he will have his money refunded.  No money will be refunded to minors without the consent of their parents.
Parents who send money for tuition, board, or fees, should send directly to Bursar, Abilene Christian College.  The institution cannot assume any reasonability for funds sent through the student.
