Design and ConstructionThis building was built by contractor H. L. Rice, who took his $2,900 payment in lots from Abilene Heights. The majority of the labor to erect the building was student labor. The building cost approximately $4,000. The Optimist staff moved into their new office in the utility building on October 13, 1938. Their old office, Room 2 in Sewell Auditorium, became a piano studio. |
