In 1953 the president's house was named in honor of the first president to occupy the house, Batsell Baxter, his wife, Frances Faye Baxter, and their son, Batsell Barrett Baxter. Baxter served as the fifth president of A. C. C. from 1924 to 1932.
Design and Construction
This house, designed by Nichol & Campbell, was the second building built on the new campus and the third house built in Abilene Heights. It was located at the corner of East North 18th Street and Washington Boulevard, now the site of the Brown Library

President Baxter and family moved from Shady Dell, the president's home on the old campus, into this house on November 30.
