College of Business Administration Mission Statement
The mission of the College of Business Administration is to glorify God in creating a distinctively Christian environment in which excellent teaching, combined with scholarship, promotes the intellectual, personal and spiritual growth of business students, and educates them for Christian service and leadership throughout the world.
The undergraduate curriculum in the College of Business Administration is separated into three distinct but interrelated parts: (1) a foundation of liberal arts, (2) a core of business courses containing a common professional component for all business students, and (3) courses containing specialized knowledge in various disciplines, which comprise a student’s major.
With the liberal arts as the foundation, a student is then provided a broad perception of the business sector by studying the fundamental principles of the following areas:
• The production and marketing of goods and services.
• The social, political, legal and economic environment of business.
• The concepts and applications of accounting, quantitative methods and management
information systems, including computer applications.
• The theory and behavior of organizations, including interpersonal communication.
• The role of strategy and decision-making at the overall management level.
While completing the core business courses, the student selects a major course of study, either in accounting, financial management, management, marketing or information systems.
With the high scholastic standards, curriculum and Christian values underlying business degrees, graduates of the college have career opportunities in both the public and private sectors. They also satisfy the academic requirements for admission to most law schools and graduate business schools.
College of Business Administration Admission Requirements
In order to maintain the standards of quality that the BBA degree offered by the ACU College of Business Administration promotes, students will be required to seek admission to the BBA program.
Admission to the College of Business Administration will entitle a student to pursue the BBA degree by taking the upper-division courses in their selected major. Admission to the BBA program will occur under three possible circumstances:
• Students who complete 42 hours with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
of 2.5 will be admitted to the BBA program.
• First-time students that enter ACU having a SAT score of 1200 or higher or an ACT score
of 27 or higher will be automatically admitted, but will be expected to earn and maintain
a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Transfer students entering ACU with over 42 hours and a GPA of at least 2.5 will be
automatically admitted, but will be expected to maintain an ACU GPA of at least 2.5.
Once admitted, if a student's GPA drops below 2.5, the student will be reverted to pre-admission status. Students who have the pre-admission designation, as well as students who are undecided, will not be able to register for upper-level business classes.
Upon the completion of 75 hours, a student that has never been admitted to the College of Business Administration can no longer seek admission.
Other College of Business Administration Requirements
The following policies apply to all students working toward a business major and/or minor:
1. Business Courses. At least 50 percent of the business credit hours required for the
business degree must be earned at ACU. No upper-division business course may be
taken more than three times.
2. Transfer Credit. To receive credit for transfer work in upper-division business courses,
the student must have taken those courses at a business school accredited by the
appropriate regional postsecondary accrediting agency sanctioned by the Council on
3. Grades. A student must have at least a grade of “C” or better in each business
4. Prerequisite Courses. Students should refer to the most current catalog available for
course prerequisite requirements.
