The Department of Political Science offers an interdisciplinary minor in public service to students who have been admitted to the Jack Pope Fellows Program (see Admission Requirements below).

Abilene Christian University recognizes Judge Jack Pope’s considerable contributions to his state and nation in his career as a public servant. In honor of his accomplishments and service, the Board of Trustees of ACU established the Jack Pope Fellows program that offers outstanding students, pursuing careers in public service, opportunities to learn about public service in the classroom, to obtain scholarship awards, to attend special lectures, and to gain practical experience in the field of public service. Jack Pope Fellowships are awarded on the basis of merit to full-time ACU students who will be college juniors in the following academic year. Pope Fellowships are intended for those who will shape the culture and provide a Christian influence in the public sector.

Admission Requirements
To be selected for a Jack Pope Fellowship, a student must:

          1. Maintain a grade point average of at least 3.25;

          2. Submit an application portfolio;

          3. Interview with the Jack Pope Fellows Steering Committee;

          4. Be selected as a Jack Pope Fellow by the Jack Pope Fellows Steering Committee.
