Sports Information Director

Lance Fleming is the sports information director in News and Athletics Media Relations.

A native of Abilene, he is a 1992 graduate of Abilene Christian University. A graduate of Abilene High, Fleming received a B.A. degree in mass communication from ACU and was a copy editor and sports writer for the Abilene Reporter-News and news writer at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

While with the Reporter-News, twice he won first place awards from the Texas Sports Writers Association (event coverage in 1996 and column writing in 1994), and in 1996 he was nominated for sports writer of the year by the Texas High School Coaches Association. His primary assignments in Abilene were local high school sports, Dallas Cowboys and the Abilene Prairie Dogs. While in Lubbock he covered Texas Tech University and the Lubbock Independent School District.

He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Football Writers Association of America and the Texas Sports Writers Association.

Fleming and his wife, Jill, were married in April 1997.
