Elmer Gray Stadium, ACU Campus

Admissions

$8 per day for adults
$5 per day for students
$12 for tournament pass

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Substitutions

If the winner of the first or second place in the district will not complete, the coach or school administrator whose athlete will not complete should notify the coach or school administrator of the third place winner in order that the vacancy may be filled. Also notify the regional meet office by email (jerrod.cook@acu.edu) of any changes.

Athletic Trainers Please email Amber Scharf (amber.scharf@acu.edu) with your name and school. Passes can be picked up at the north end of the stadium on the Friday of the meet.

Running Finals

The running finals will be contested separately on Saturday between the two divisions (A-AA). The A running finals will begin at 11 a.m. and AA running finals will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will run on a schedule

Entry to meet

A wristband is necessary to gain entry to the meet. Team packets will include two coaches' wristband only. There will be no opportunity to purchase any additional wristband. All others must pay general admission fee.

Track and Field Access

Coaches and managers will not be allowed on the field, except to help with high jump marks. Athletes should warm-up on field south of track. Any violation can result in team disqualification.

Electronics

No radios, tape recorders, walkie-talkies, cell phones, or CBs are allowed in the stands or on the field.

Facilities

Dress and shower facilities will not be available at the track. Please park buses on lot southwest of stadium.

Workouts

There will be no workout on the track for Regional Meet qualifiers.

Relay Hand off Practice

Teams may practice relay hand offs one hour before the event on Friday and 30 minutes before the event on Saturday.

Numbers

Hip numbers will be given to each athlete at check-in 30 minutes before the event at the tent south of the track.

Prelims/Final Qualification

There will be no prelims in the 1600m run, or the 3200m run. The top eight contestants will qualify to the finals in all events. In running events, qualification will be by time.
In class A there will be no prelims in the 800m, class AA will have prelims in the 800m. The class AA final in the 1600m and 3200m will be started with a two-turn start.

Awards

The top three in each event will receive medals immediately after the event at the awards presentation on the track infield.

 

RULINGS

False

The no-false-start rule is in effect. Runners will be disqualified upon first false start.

Second-Place Ties

In the event of a tie for second place, the representative to the state meet will be determined using the same rules that apply to first-place ties.

Protest

Protests must be filed in writing within 15 minutes of when the results of the event are announced.

Officials

Please help!! Every school sending athletes to the meet is asked to send at least one qualified track and field official. See 2008 regional track and field officials.

 

IMPORTANT TIMES

Packet Pick-up

3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday & 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday
Where: Elmer Gray Stadium

Packet pick-up will begin Thursday at 3:00 p.m. and continue through Friday. Be sure packets have the correct number of passes. No coaches' meeting is scheduled.

Implement Weigh-in

4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday & 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Friday
Where: North Equipment Room

All implements (shot and discus) must be brought to the North Equipment Room at Elmer Gray Stadium at least two hours before competition. Implements not available for measurement during this time will not be allowed into the meet. Implements failing to weigh-in can be picked up at the North Equipment Room after each competition.

Athlete Check-in

30 minutes prior to each event                   Check-in tent south of track

Athletes will receive their hip numbers at check-in. Relay cards should be turned into the clerk at this time. Field event participants may check-in at the event site.
