GENERAL INFORMATION

ACU is hosting the 1A and 4A regional meets this year.

We are asking each district to be responsible for one field event. Each district will be contacted regarding their assignment for the regional track meet. We appreciate your help to ensure that the regional meet will run as efficiently as possible.

*Note: Meet helpers will not be designated as a head official.

Entering Athletes for Regional Competition

All Regional meet entries will need to be faxed to Jerrod Cook at 325-674-6831or email the results in the appropriate format to be imported into Hy-Tek. There is an online form available at the UIL website. You can type your entries into the online forms. If you elect to enter your athletes on the hand-written forms, please make sure each name is spelled correctly and is legile. Substitutions will be closed on Friday, April 20. 2012

Substitutions

If any of the top four places in the area will not be able to complete, the coach or school administrator whose athlete will not complete should notify the coach or school administrator of the fifth place winner in order that the vacancy may be filled. Also notify the regional meet office by email (jerrod.cook@acu.edu) of any changes.  All substitutions must be made final by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012.

Athletic Trainers 

Please email Cory Driskill (cory.driskill@acu.edu) with your name and school. Passes can be picked up at the training room under the bleachers by the main gate of the stadium on the Friday of the meet.

Heat Sheets

Heat sheets will be available upon arrival at the Regional Track meet.  See packet pick-up below for more information.

Running Finals

The running finals will be contested Saturday, April 28, 2012. The running finals for A will begin at 11:00 am and the finals for 4A will begin at 2:30 pm. Both events will run on a schedule.

Entry to meet

A wristband is necessary to gain entry to the meet. Team packets will include two coaches' wristband only. There will be no opportunity to purchase any additional wristband. All others must pay general admission fee.

Track and Field Access

One field event coach per field event will be allowed in designated areas (on the field side of the flag perimeter) on the track.  This is a new rule for the UIL competitions.   Athletes are required to do all pre-competition warm-ups on field south of track. First violations will result in a warning; the second violation can result in individual or team disqualification.

Electronics

No radios, tape recorders, walkie-talkies, cell phones, or CBs are allowed in the stands or on the field.

Facilities

Dress and shower facilities will not be available at the track. Please park buses on lot southwest of stadium.

Parking

All busses will need to park in the designated parking lot south of the soccer field. 

Workouts

There will be no workout on the track for Regional Meet qualifiers.

Relay Hand off Practice

1A teams may practice relay hand offs on Friday April 27th at the conclusion of the 4A boys 3200m race.  4A teams may practice relay hand offs one hour before the beginning of the 4A running events on Friday April 27th.  Both 1A and 4A relays may practice relay hand offs one hour prior to the beginning of their regional running finals on Saturday April 28th.

Numbers

Hip numbers will be given to each athlete at check-in 30 minutes before the event at the tent south of the track.

Prelims/Final Qualification

There will be no prelims in the 1600m run, or the 3200m run.  The 3200m run final will be held on Friday April 27th. The top eight contestants will qualify to the finals in all events. In running events, qualification will be by time.

Awards

The top three in each event will receive medals immediately after the event at the awards presentation on the track infield.

RULINGS

False

The no-false-start rule is in effect. Runners will be disqualified upon first false start.

Ties

All ties must be broken through 6th place. There will be a wild-card entry going to state this year and all ties must be broken in order to do the call-up from any region.

Protest

Protests must be filed in writing within 15 minutes of when the results of the event are announced.

Officials

Please help! Every school sending athletes to the meet is asked to send at least one qualified track and field official. See Sign up to be a 2012 track and field official.

IMPORTANT TIMES

Packet Pick-up

There will be a packet pick-up on Thursday, April 26, 2012 located in the south meeting room of Elmer Gray Stadium from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. You may also pick up your packet upon arrival at the regional track meet at the same location. Coaches may leave their throwing implements with the weigh-in official located in the same room as the packet pick-up.

Implement Weigh-in

Implement weigh-in will be held in the south meeting room in Elmer Gray Stadium on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm. Implements will be impounded prior to each throwing event. Implements must be checked in no later than one hour prior to the start of the throwing event. Coaches please remember to pick up any remaining implements from the weigh-in official prior to leaving the track meet.

Athlete Check-in

  • 30 minutes prior to each event 
  • Athletes will receive their hip numbers at check-in. Relay cards should be turned into the clerk at this time. 
  • Field event participants may check-in at the event site.
