Transferring Classes to ACU
For Prospective Students
The first semester at ACU, a transfer Equivalency Report will be issued to transfer students by the Registrar's Office. Transfer students who enter with 22 or more semester hours toward an ACU degree are not required to take University Seminar. The Admissions office web page and the ACU Catalog can provide you with more information about coming to ACU as a new transfer student. Click here to go to the Admissions transfer web page. For Currently Enrolled Students
Courses completed at other accredited colleges or universities after a student has enrolled at ACU are transferable within the following guidelines:
Before registering for courses at another institution, students must first obtain written permission on a Transfer Course Application (TCA). If comparability is not established through TCA approval prior to registration in the course, the transfer credit may count as elective credit only. Only grades of "C" or above are accepted for undergraduate transfer credit. Only grades of "B" or above are accepted for graduate transfer credit.
- The TCA form is available in The Depot, the Registrar's Office, or in an advisor's office.
- A course description from the college offering the course needs to be attached to the TCA. Course descriptions may be viewed and printed on-line through CollegeSource. Click here to go to the CollegeSource web site.
- The student's advisor and the chair of the ACU department that offers the course must approve the TCA request and sign the form.
- The completed form can be turned in to The Depot or the Registrar's Office.
- Once the course is completed, request an official transcript be sent to ACU.
After earning 60 hours towards a degree (junior standing), a student may take no more than 6 hours at a two-year college (No more than 66 hours will be accepted from a two-year college for any student).
After enrolling at ACU, students must observe the following regulations for general education:
- Take no more than one general education (University or Degree Core) required course in English or history at another institution.
- Due to the special nature of some science core curriculum courses (e.g. BIOL 120, AENV 130) and mathematics core curriculum course (MATH 120), students may not find an equivalent course at another institution.
- Only courses equivalent to or comparable to those offered by ACU are accepted. Comparable U.S. courses must be credited in college credit hours. Credit will be posted for the level at which the course was taken. ACU does not offer college credit for vocational/technical training or for work force education courses, except when the courses are equivalent or comparable to ACU courses.
- Evaluation of transfer work intended to meet specific ACU degree requirements is the responsibility of the chair of the department offering the comparable course at ACU. Credits will be posted when the official transcript reaches the ACU Registrar's Office from the issuing university's registrar's office.
- Students must earn their last 24 hours in residence at ACU (Cooperative degrees are exceptions).
- Undergraduate students must earn a minimum of 24 hours of upper level work (300-400 courses) including 9 hours in their major in residence at ACU.
- Students on academic suspension are ineligible to transfer credit without written approval from their academic dean.
- Transfer courses are not included in the ACU grade point average.
