Minority Peers Encouraging Excellent Performance Successfully (MyPEEPS)

This peer mentoring program is designed to help facilitate the transition from high school to college for students of color through a mentor relationship between upper class students and incoming freshmen.  Mentors provide friendship, academic assistance, spiritual guidance and social support to incoming freshmen.

Ebony Man/Ebony Woman

EM/EW is a discussion group for black students to discuss issues pertaining to their social relationships at ACU.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
January

Every year, ACU recognizes the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday with a day off.  The university encourages individuals to use the day as a "day on," by volunteering in the community participating in local and regional celebrations, including the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet in Abilene.

Black History Month
February

ACU annually celebrates the contributions African Americans have made to the United States with special events, including Chapel speakers, video presentations, games and live performances.  A particular highlight of the month is the Essence of Ebony sponsored Black History performance.  ACU students, faculty and staff also participate in the local Black History parade and other activities sponsored by the city.

Hispanic Awareness Month
September/October

ACU annually sponsors this campus wide celebration of Hispanic cultures and heritage.  The month is filled with special events, sponsored by the Office of Student Multicultural Enrichment and Hispanos Unidos student organization.  Such events include speakers, food festivals, video presentations and live performances.  ACU students, faculty and staff also participate in local activities sponsored by the city.

Native American Celebration
November

ACU sponsors a celebration of Native American cultures.  Special events during month of November include Chapel speakers, brown bag seminars and exhibits.
