Boxing Goals

It is our goal to box your mail the same day it is received and as soon as possible. However, since we will receive an average of 4,600 pieces of incoming mail per day, it does take some time to sort and box the mail.

U.S. Mail

This includes all U.S. Mail except Express Mail. For information on Express Mail, please see the Air Package Services section below.

Fall and Spring Semesters

We pick up our incoming U.S. Mail from the Abilene Mail Processing Center Monday through Friday at 7:35 a.m. and begin sorting it at 8:00 a.m. T Our Hours he Postal Service delivers the mail not ready at that time, if any, later in the morning. On Saturdays, the Postal Service delivers the mail to us in mid morning.

Holidays

Our boxing goals during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holidays and Fall and Spring Breaks are available on Our Hours page, posted in the mailbox lobby and published in The Printed Word, our newsletter to faculty and staff. We are closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.

Ground Package Services

Ground package services include shipments from FedEx Ground, Lone Star Overnight (ground services only) and UPS 3-Day Select, Ground and Standard services. It is our goal within two hours of receipt to:

  • Box the call notice for the departments in mailboxes
  • Deliver the shipment on the next route for the departments on the delivery routes

Air Package Services

Air package services include shipments from Express Mail, FedEx Express, Lone Star Overnight (air services only) and UPS (air services only).  It is our goal within one hour of receipt to:

  • Call you, if an office telephone number for the recipient is available
  • Box the call notice for the departments in mailboxes
  • Deliver the shipment on the next route for the departments on the delivery routes
