Working as a Student at Mail Services

While working at Mail Services can be a lot of fun, we do expect everyone to be on time for work and to work while they are on the clock. Student staff receive a free mailbox while working and are able to ship using ACU's discounted rates.

There are two different types of student positions:

Fall and Spring Positions

Students may work up to 20 hours per week. We work Mondays through Fridays with student hours typically scheduled between 8 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Students are split into two shifts that rotate working on Saturdays (9 a.m. to noon).

Students are expected to work their regular schedules unless they get someone else to work in their place:

  • Until Wednesday at noon before Thanksgiving Day.
  • Until Friday at 5 p.m. before Spring Break.

Students are expected to work during fall and spring final exam weeks. Fall and spring students may work at other times of the year if there are hours available.

Year-Round Positions

While limited to 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters, students may work up to 39 hours per week during the summers, Christmas holidays and spring break. In addition to the work hours described above, year round students are expected to work:

  • Summers – We will work Mondays through Fridays. We will also work the Saturday after spring final exams  and the Saturday before the first day of fall classes. Students are allowed to take up to two weeks off during the summer.
  • Fall Break – We will work Friday, but we are closed on Saturday.
  • Thanksgiving Holiday – We are closed Wednesday at noon through Saturday.
  • Christmas Holiday – We will work Mondays through Fridays. We will be closed between Christmas Day and New Years Day. Students are allowed to take up to one week off during the Christmas holidays.
  • Spring Break – We are closed the Saturdays at the beginning and end of spring break. During the week we will work Monday through Friday. Students are allowed to take up to one day off.

Year round students may take more time off than listed above, but they will have to find someone else to work in their place.
