Benefits While You're Abroad

If you are traveling on behalf of ACU:

Worldwide Assistance - ACU's Administrative Services office purchases a policy from ACE USA International Advantage to cover ACU employees who travel overseas for Study Abroad and other university-approved business.  Prior to your departure please obtain a copy of this insurance information from either Study Abroad or Administrative Services.  Questions regarding this policy should be addressed to Nelda Gilbreth at 674-2363 or at gilbrethn@acu.edu.

Prescription Drugs - Ensure that you have an adequate supply of your prescription medications on hand.  If you need assistance in obtaining an extended supply of your prescription, please contact the ACU Benefits Help Line at 1-866-994-7852 or at acuhelpline@ajg.com

If your travel is for personal reasons:

Emergencies - FirstCare will cover you for emergencies all over the world unless you are traveling in a location in which travel warning has been issued by the U.S. State Department (such as places that were affected by SARS, and countries we are policing or with which we are at war).  If you need emergency care, please seek treatment.  FirstCare and your PCP (Primary Care Physician) need to be contacted within 24 hours.  Most likely you will be stabilized and then transported back to the U.S. for further treatment.

Non-Emergencies - If you wish, you can often find additional insurance for travelers that will cover the cost of upraded transportation home, additional funds if you are hurt or become ill and even monies to cover evacuation and repatriation in the case of death.  The independent insurance broker of your choice should be able to assist you.
