Workshop Description:

Baby boomers are facing a combination of unprecedented challenges: their aging parents need care, adult children are moving back home, and their plans for a relaxing retirement are being smashed, forcing boomers back into the workplace.  It is a time of the most profound sociological shift since World War II.

This seminar is designed to help caregivers, parents, therapist, counselors and other helping professionals understand the heart and challenges that face Boomers with aging parents, adult children moving home, and the difficulty of a disappearing retirement.  Real guidance is presented to develop the attitudes and strategies that will not only help Boomers survive this time, but flourish and grow in relationships.  Each topic is examined carefully to provide understanding and then interventions are presented to help the Boomer adequately and effectively deal with challenge.  Whether the participant is a Boomer looking for help or a helping professional looking for guidance on assisting those who are in this stage of life, this seminar offers valuable and effective insight.  Richly illustrated with examples from real life, participants are also given time to interact to get their tough questions answered.

Workshop Learning Objectives:

1.  Participants will learn the attitudes that are helpful in dealing with aging parents.

2.  Participants will learn how to implement the one primary caregiver/one primary caregiver support group model.

3.  Participants will be able to diagnose why adult children return home and the emotional needs that are associated.

4.  Participants will be able to recognize and implement the three stage strategy for helping adult children who return home.

5.  Participants will be able to utilize at least 3 strategies that will help financially when over 60.
