Service in the City

In keeping with the CCSL's emphasis on spiritual formation, leadership development, and local ministry and service, a new service experience will be offered March 10-13, 2014. This opportunity, called Service in the City, is an Abilene-based experience that promotes the principles of solitude, community, and ministry among students while meeting the real needs of our neighbors in the community.

Service in the City will take place on Monday through Thursday of ACU's Spring Break. The schedule intentionally allows a period of rest and refreshment both before and after this period of focused service. On Monday, all participants will share in spiritual formation experiences, while Tuesday through Thursday will be spent working in teams serving throughout Abilene.

The cost for participants is $150; a $75 deposit is due for your application to be complete with the balance due by February 1. Please bring cash or a check to the CCSL office located in the basement of the Campus Center. The cost covers 12 meals, supplies for service teams, and a t-shirt. (Students may remain in the residence hall rooms/or current off-campus housing, so no additional housing is required.) Additionally, students can apply for one of our leadership team positions. please fill out the application linked below and return to the CCSL office.

Faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to take their Spring Break holiday and join student groups for a day of service during the week. Hopefully, this collaborative experience will forge new and deeper relationships within our educational community. Our prayer is that Service in the City builds transformative relationships between faculty, staff, students, and our neighbors.
