Aubree Selinger ('14) | Family Studies
Extracurricular activities/organizations: Sigma Theta Chi, President of the Student Alumni Association.
Favorite courses: Although I have loved and learned so much from all my Family Studies classes, my favorite class was Human Intimacy with Dr. Heidi Morris. I look up to Dr. Morris as a wife, mother and professor here at ACU. Time spent in her classes has always proved rewarding.
Biggest surprise about ACU: I have been most surprised at the level of care professors have for their students. I didn't expect to be welcomed into their homes and cared for the way I have been. It has been both a blessing and encouragement to be a student here at ACU. I have been changed for the better because of the professors who have taken interest in my life during my time here on campus.
Advice to incoming students: My biggest piece of advice to freshmen would be to take hold of every opportunity you are given. Don't be afraid to try something new. College is not only a time to grow in your academics but also a season to be stretched spiritually, socially and professionally. The faculty and staff here at ACU want you to succeed and will do everything in their power to give you that opportunity. Embrace what this campus has to offer and allow yourself to become a fully rounded person by your experiences at ACU.
Why did you decide to come to ACU?
My first visit to ACU was during the fall of my junior year of high school. I was quickly captivated by the student life on campus and did not want to apply to any other schools. ACU had won me over.
How has your experience at ACU impacted who you have become as a person?
ACU has challenged me to make my faith my own. The Bible classes, chapel seminars and professors have pushed me to consider all aspects of faith and to have a firmer grip on who I am and who I am becoming.
What have you gained through your involvement with PULSE?
As a freshman, I was unsure what to expect from the newly founded program, but four years later I cannot imagine my college career without it. The speakers have always been informative and captivating, and I have made connections with fellow students that I would not have crossed paths with had it not been for PULSE.
